Our teachers are ready to work with you.
Browning Street Studios (2008-2021) was Australia’s first not-for-profit, cooperatively-run music school. Our teachers worked together for thirteen years to run specialist studio spaces and, through our teacher Co-op, continue to support excellence in music teaching practice and student learning experiences.
At the end of 2021, our teachers made the difficult decision to close our specialised studios. We remain as a teacher-run Co-operative, supporting ongoing career development and purposeful student-teacher matching. Our environment of mutual peer-support and ongoing education means that a Co-op teacher is equipped with the tools and knowledge to effectively work with you toward your goals.
We are leaders in our field when it comes to foregrounding quality music education within an ethical economy of mutual support and respect for others.
For now, teachers will operate in the West End/inner-city Brisbane area.
We acknowledge the the Turrbal and Jagera people, traditional owners of the land on which we work (Meanjin – “Brisbane”, Kurilpa – “West End”). We pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge the continuing connection of traditional owners to the land, water and culture of this area.
Music Lessons

We offer vocal coaching, theory, songwriting and performance classes as well as instrumental tuition on a range of instruments, including piano, guitar and bass, strings and woodwind.
