Emma holds a Masters Degree in Vocal Pedagogy from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, where she studied under the respected voice researcher Dr Irene Bartlett, as well as a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Queensland University of Technology. She recently completed training in Vocology at the National Centre for Voice and Speech Summer Vocology Institute.
In addition to delivering one-on-one singing lessons and vocal health consultations at Browning Street Studio, Emma is a Lecturer in Voice and Music at JMC Academy, where she has been teaching in the Bachelor of Contemporary Music and Performance since 2016. She runs regular workshops for singers and singing teachers, has been a guest presenter at numerous professional development events for singing teachers, and is the head of the vocal department at Browning Street Studios, South Brisbane.
Emma is an accomplished vocalist who has always held a passion for performing and teaching voice. Her teaching centres around helping her students express themselves through music and singing, to get the most out of their voices and establish sustainable vocal habits. Emma has worked with singers from beginners to professionals, of all ages. As a trained Vocologist (NCVS), Emma also offers consultations for singers who have concerns about their vocal health, and post-rehabilitation work for singers who have experienced voice injury.
Emma is heavily involved with the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing (ANATS) as the National Membership Secretary, QLD Chapter Vice President, and a member of the Board of Directors.
Although experienced in a wide variety of musical styles, Emma’s speciality is in Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM), especially Pop, Rock, R&B, Jazz and Musical Theatre, with a particular interest in helping you to develop the skills necessary to be a successful contemporary vocalist in an holistic and healthy manner.
